American Album (2025)
Photo book published by Cé Editions. 500 copies, 208 pages, 19.5 x 26 cm, printed in Italy by Grafiche AZ
American Album is a book of images captured on the road, retracing a love story across the United States, at a time when the American dream seems to be collapsing. A journey in which the protagonists chase something elusive while fleeing an undefined reality.
Along this runaway path, landscapes scroll by, similar yet shifting, like cardboard sets endlessly renewing themselves. Hotel rooms, diners with empty plates, colourful houses, desert vistas: a frenetic accumulation of frozen moments, a compulsive cataloging of a desire to immobilise the ephemeral, an irrepressible need to grasp and classify everything. But beyond the fantasy, everything remains unstable. Sets fade and reverse; the quest seems within reach, only to slip away again in a whirlwind, a gentle storm where all bearings dissolve. In a dazzling and artificial America, the lovers move from one movie to another without ever finding the exit.
Oil paint applied to black-and-white photographs heightens this oscillation between reality and illusion. Sometimes faithful, sometimes dissonant, it reinterprets the world, granting each image a new dimension. Between softness and tension, between quest and desire, American Album captures a suspended moment, just before everything shifts.

Motel 42 (2024)
Photo book published by Leaf. 300 copies, 92 pages, 29.7 x 20.5cm, printed in Belgium by die Keure
Motel 42 is a series of self-portraits taken in the United States on black-and-white film. Each photo was printed and then colored with oil paint. Eloïse joined her musician partner on a tour in the United States and discovered a world she had only seen in movies: American motels. The photographer wanted to document the 42 rooms they stayed in, morning after morning.
The idea behind this project was to show the intimacy, the interior, the silence of this transformative journey. Eloïse created pictorial compositions, using her body as a common thread while capturing the soul of each space: a roller coaster at the window, a light suggesting an apocalyptic fire or the arrival of an angel behind a window, skin, love, and loneliness. By using color, she transformed these gray and dirty rooms into strange and precious worlds.

Album (2023)
Photo book published by Cé Éditions. 500 copies, 128 pages, 19.5 x 25.5 cm, printed in France by Art & Caractère
Album is an array of memories, tales, and dreams captured on black and white film and colored by hand. The paint applied with a brush, as well as with fingers, reveals imperfections, smudges, fingerprints. The mixing of mediums produces a disturbance and provokes the passage from the multiple image to a unique work. The reality captured by the lens becomes fiction through colorization with dreamlike tones. The bodies stroll in spaces of solitude and silence.
Eloïse’s first book Album is built like a photo album: the photographs are mixed, their association creates new memories, and brings us in a nostalgic and melancholic world. The book gathers more than 80 photographs taken over the years in France, Greece, Japan and Mexico.
